How is your work-life balance/integration going?

One of the most common topics that comes up in my coaching is a desire for better work-life balance/integration.

There are many reasons that someone might be trying to achieve a better balance for themselves and any number of reasons that might be getting in the way.

And, each person’s IDEA of work-life balance/integration is different.

Here’s one common trend I do see:

Our current habits play a role in feeling that out-of-balance feeling.

I’m reminded of Albert Einstein’s quote:

“If you want different results, do not do the same things.”

This generally comes down to making different decisions. What this could look like is choosing 1 or 2 different actions, which then turn into new habits, pushing out old, non-serving habits.

One way to get to this is asking:

“What do I need to let go of in order to have better balance?”

This could be letting go of tasks.

But I would invite you to go deeper than that.

What THINKING do you need to let go of to achieve better balance?

Here are some examples of non-supportive behaviours and thinking:

  • Trying to meet your own un-realistic expectations of yourself

  • Trying to continually meet the un-realistic expectations of someone else

  • Constantly trying to please someone else

  • Doing more because you feel you aren’t good enough and soon they’ll find out…

  • Allowing other people’s agendas to be your own

Are any of these resonating with you?

So, while we look to ‘how we manage our time’ and ‘calendar hacks’, these tips can certainly help. However, they won’t solve the whole issue. If you still struggle with out-of sync work-life balance in your life then I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on what keeps you there.

What ONE thing can you experiment with letting go of (HINT: it may be contained in the list above - or you may have your own version).

What NEW supportive habit would you like to practice instead? I would love to hear it. Comment below (or hit reply if you’re reading this in my newsletter) with ONE habit you would like to try in order to support your own work-life balance.

NOW is YOUR time.
