An unconventional strategy to business growth

The unconventional strategy: Create space to think.

This may seem odd to highlight, but stick with me here…

Often, we go and go and go in a business we’re trying to create and build. We feel like there’s never enough time, there are more clients or customers to attract, or new products or services to release in this quest of creating, building, and growing a business. There’s a lot of doing. And a lot of striving.

And that action-taking can be worthwhile.

However, there is another side of the equation to consider….and that side is the opposite of doing.

It’s about taking frequent pauses. Creating space for something else…..

How often are you creating space for thinking, reflecting, planning, and considering?

And even in this, considering your answers to questions such as, “What am I creating?”, “What am I growing?”, what is my true goal in building this business?”, “Are we on track with our current plans?”, “How is the team performing - what could improve their work?”, “What opportunities are in front of me?”, or “What am I not seeing?”….you get it. Those questions along with the strategic thinking and planning are often relegated activities for annual reviews or annual planning.

But, done more frequently, this is where the magic happens. This is where you pause and take stock and make space for insights to occur; For ideas to take hold. And these are the nuggets that can contribute greatly to business growth.

Slowing down is sometimes the best way to speed up.

And, by making space for this regularly - in your week and even in your day, you are unleashing different parts of your brain and thinking that can contribute unique and inspired ideas that can help you break through typical business-building challenges.

If this currently isn’t a part of how you work I encourage you to consider trying it. And, it’s like anything else, it may take some time to practice and flex the muscle of thinking, reflecting, and even leaning into some good old-fashioned mind-wandering or daydreaming :).

I have seen some incredible ideas come from business owners who have regularly adopted this as a part of their routine because they access different ways to have insights than they would otherwise, being busy 100% of the time.

What if you dedicated 2% of your weekly work time to think and reflect?

NOW is YOUR time.

PS: Hit reply if this resonated with you! I would love to hear if you will be making space in your week for more thinking and reflection.
