What your business needs but many don’t have…

I know so many of you are planning on taking time away this month to spend time with family or for personal reasons.

As you prepare to be away, what are your intentions?

What relationship do you want to have with work while you’re away? Are you looking to be completely disconnected, occasionally checking in, available when needed, or do you plan to be full on working but just away from the office?

Consider this:

1) There’s what you want

2) And, there’s what your systems and structures will support

Example: If you’re looking to disconnect, then your business needs to be set up to handle things while you’re away. (NOTE: There’s a difference between ‘handling things’ and ‘deferring things’ until you get back!)

The two aspects above should be in alignment if you want to enjoy your time away.

Heading away is always an opportunity for you to determine how well people are prepared for you to be away.

This is also a learning opportunity for someone to learn a new process or how to handle a new situation. Consider what documents, notes, links, tools and other resources people need in order to fully handle things while you’re gone.

If you’re sitting there thinking that you want to enjoy your time with the family but you’ll have to be more in touch than you want to, then there’s no time like the present to begin to get others up to speed to keep your company humming along.

If you feel like you can move forward on your own that’s great.

Alternatively, if you need support this is an excellent resource that could guide you in these first steps. I encourage you to check it out so you can begin or continue building a relationship with your business that can support itself and serves you, versus the other way around.

NOW is YOUR time.
