How do you measure business growth?
Growing your business can be fun, challenging, rewarding and all-encompassing. It can also feel frustrating, never-enough and like spinning your wheels.
An interesting question to consider if you have aspirations to expand is: how are you measuring growth?
There’s the traditional metrics of using revenue and profit. Those are great measures.
However, measuring growing using only the metric of growing top-line sales is using a very narrow lense.
AND these metrics are lagging indicators. They are the result of the activities you’re engaging in.
What are your leading indicators? (These are the actions you’re taking that LEAD TO the results you’re looking for.)
The benefits of time off work
In a world consistent overworking and putting off personal plans to ‘get ahead at work’ is still a badge of honour for some (things are are changing but not fast enough in my opinion), sometimes the idea of taking vacation gets shoved aside.
But the research and benefits of taking time away are quite compelling:
Being intentional in challenging times
Well - this has been a week of weeks! And, really, what a start to 2020 if you take in when this all began on the other side of the world (and it really technically started late 2019). There’s a lot going on in the world right now and I’m guessing many of us are trying to make sense of it all.
I am so grateful to our brothers and sisters around the world who are sharing with us what it means to find solidarity, to collaborate on information and who are contributing to the sense that we are all going through this together.
In uncertain and complex times and with a 24/7 news cycle, a virus that no one wants to get, and with unprecedented shut-downs for many, this is like pulling the rug of safety and security right out from under us.
Finding Joy in your day
The messages to return are piling up, the billing needs to be done, the meetings have to be booked, the conversations have to happen, let alone the kids need driving somewhere at the end of the day…wait…when will they have time for homework…or practicing their instrument? …and then there’s meal planing….
And then there’s Joy.
When do I have time for that?
